Unity partners with AMILI to bring Asia's precision health science to Singaporeans, with new Metabolic Health Probiotics available exclusively through Unity's Wellness retail pharmacies

Asian science for Asian health. Formulated by leading scientists and clinicians in Singapore
and developed using technology licensed from the National University Hospital (NUH), the science-led supplement is the first synbiotic specially developed using Singapore data to support metabolic health and will be available at select Unity’s Wellness retail pharmacies.

SINGAPORE, 9th August 2026 – Unity and AMILI, a Singapore-based precision health company centred on the gut microbiome, today announced a partnership to bring locally developed solutions to Singaporeans, starting with the Metabolic Health Probiotics. Under the partnership, Unity, the health and wellness retail arm of FairPrice Group, will be the exclusive retail pharmacy partner for Metabolic Health Probiotics, a locally developed gut health supplement specially formulated to support healthy metabolism. Both brands will also work jointly to educate the public on how gut health affects metabolism and overall health.

The launch comes as Singapore contends with rising obesity, amid a national shift toward preventive and personalised healthcare. According to the Ministry of Health's National Population Health Survey 2024, the proportion of residents with obesity rose from 10.5% in 2019-2020 to 12.7% in 2023-2024. Chronic disease also remains widespread, with around one in three residents living with high cholesterol, and a similar proportion with high blood pressure.

Most widely available probiotics are developed and studied on predominantly Western populations, which may not reflect the unique gut microbiome profiles in Asia. The partnership aims to make science-led, preventive wellness more accessible to Singaporeans through a highly trusted retail brand and professional in-store guidance.

A wholly Singaporean value chain

The formulation was developed by AMILI using technology licensed from the National University Hospital (NUH), with the underlying research informed by a collaboration involving AMILI, the National University of Singapore, and NUH clinicians. The beneficial bacterial strains were selected for their demonstrated role in supporting metabolic health, and the combination was benchmarked against the world's largest multi-ethnic Asian gut microbiome database and validated in AMILI's award-winning Functional Microbiota Assay, to ensure the formulation is relevant to the population it was designed for: people living in Asia.

For Unity, this partnership is an extension of its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of Singaporeans. "At Unity, we are always looking to inspire and support Singaporeans in their health and wellness journey. Good health starts with the small, consistent lifestyle choices people make each day, and gut health is foundational to this. We are excited to partner with AMILI as this allows us to bring trusted, science-based Asian microbiome data for metabolic health closer to the community," said Ms Pauline Png, General Manager, Unity, FairPrice Group.

"An Asian gut is not the same as a Western one. The microbes are primarily driven by our diets, lifestyles and environment, which is why solutions built on Asian data matter. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the health of our fellow Singaporeans through this effort," said Dr Jeremy Lim, Co-founder and CEO, AMILI.

"Metabolic and fatty liver conditions are rising steadily in Singapore, and we know the gut microbiome plays an important role in how the body regulates them. Collaborations that combine clinical insights from Singaporean patients with microbiome science help deepen our understanding of how the gut microbiome may influence health and disease, and can contribute to the development of new approaches to support metabolic health in Asian populations," said Associate Professor Dan Yock Young, Senior Consultant, National University Centre for Digestive Health at NUH. He is also a Senior Consultant in NUH’s Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine, and the Adult Liver Transplantation Programme at the National University Centre for Organ Transplantation.

About AMILI Metabolic Health Probiotics

AMILI Metabolic Health Probiotics is a multi-component synbiotic developed to support metabolic health through the gut microbiome. The formulation was developed by AMILI using technology licensed from the National University Hospital (NUH) and draws on the world's largest multiethnic Asian gut microbiome database, built by AMILI. It combines four specially selected live probiotic strains, a heat-killed postbiotic, a prebiotic fibre, and botanical extracts in a single daily delayed-release capsule, helping the strains survive stomach acid and reach the gut. AMILI Metabolic Health Probiotics is available online at www.amili.asia, and at select Unity’s Wellness retail pharmacies and healthcare institutions in September 2026.

About Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic syndrome is associated with a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and liver disease, and it does not stem from a single metabolic pathway. Research indicates the gut microbiome helps regulate energy balance, blood sugar and inflammation, in part through its effect on the gut barrier and its production of beneficial metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). A balanced gut microbiome is increasingly recognised as one foundation for metabolic health.
